Paradise Cove Luau

I have been to Luau's before (on Maui and on Oahu) and was disappointed with this one. It was so "commercial" and lacking in the real feel of island music and culture. I suppose it was way bigger than any other I had been to so the sheer numbers make it a logistical problem. I like to see something more genuine than that. I had been to the Polynesian Cultural Centre and consider that they covered what I was looking for in a much more genuine mannner. That sort of concert material combined with a "real" cooking of food in the earth would have been better. There was not even any steam as the food was taken out of the "earth oven" - an anticlimax. Our bus tour driver was dreadful but the staff at the actual site were brilliant. Overall though a disappointment.

What an awesome luau! It was our first time to Oahu, and our first time to a luau, and we highly recommend going to Paradise Cove! The hostess on board our bus (#6) was funny and engaged the crowd. The events leading up to the meal, and show were quite entertaining, and the drinks from the bar were YUMMY!! I made a bracelet from fresh flowers and TI leaves, and I even got a tattoo. The show was AMAZING, and the food was quite good, too! We only chose the basic package, with 2 drinks, shell leis, and buffet seating, and were really happy with everything! Buy the photo they take when you arrive...great souvenir! Can't wait to come back when my kids are a little older - we will definitely bring the family to Paradise Cove next time!!

The Luau was great. My husband and I were visiting for our honeymoon and the Luau was one of our many excursions. This luau offered games and activities prior to the dinner and show. The entire event was wonderful and the food was good also. I would go again.

My partner and I brought his mom with us to Hawaii and this was the closing to our one week trip. The staff as always were exceptional. However, I wish there was more time to just relax instead of being herded around like a bunch of cattle. I felt that there was too much to do and see with so little time. We had the deluxe package, which we never got our photos and free gifts as promised. That was a big disappointment.

This was a nice re-creation but very staged. Not a feeling of realism. Staged strickly for tourista. I guess the old Hawaii is all gone already.

This was our first luau that we've experienced and we're pretty happy w/ Paradise Cove. The location is beautiful, the hosts and hostesses were very nice, and the activities were enjoyable. If only the activities could have lasted longer than the time they had allocated, it would have been better. We loved the food and the show towards the end. The weather was perfect, and during the final show we saw a falling star. Perfect luau in paradise. Would definitely recommend to others looking for a great luau experience!

My family really enjoyed this activity. We sat right beside the stage and it was wonderful. The bus ride was my sons favorite part. He did not want to go and I had to make him. Now ,if you ask him what his favorite thing he did while in Hawaii he will tell you the Luau at Paradise Cove. My family enjoyed the authintic dancing and singing. I printed our coupon/ voucher off line and it all worked out great.

I would recommend that anyone at any age range see a luau while visiting Hawaii. Paradise Cove was awesome. The entertainment was magnificant, the staff was very nice, my waiter was shy and asked for his picture not to be posted on the internet :) They feed you a lot of food. VIP is the way to gp because you stay seated, your food is served to you and for a hot afternoon you are under a cover with fans. You have a wonderful sunset view. Just GOOD LUCK if it rains!!

First of all, I highly recommend the v.i.p box. I was kind of expecting an individual booth, but itfs actually an area under a shed seating about 30-40 people (8 people a table). Even though youfre sitting with other people, v.i.p beats getting up to stand in line for food. There would be a staff member serving you, also most important is the weather. A staff member I talked to mentioned that if it happens to rain, the only people that would be covered are people in v.i.p. If it does rain, there would be security guards blocking the v.i.p booth, if anyone with a standard seat tries to enter. The activities are delightful, the gift shops are great, and I must have spent about 100-130 dollars just on souvenirs. The picture taken of us is beautiful. Going as a couple, 6 drink coupons each were plenty. When you enter you will receive a complimentary drink, so we actually had extra coupons by the end of the. The staffs are nice, helpful, and funny. It was a great luauccc..

The Paradise Cove Luau was a very fun experience and it is great for families since they have activities you can participate in. The food was very delicious, I however would not recommend paying the extra for the Deluxe package with table service and 6 standard drink coupons. Table service was very slow, people who did the buffett had food way before we did AND there were other things on the buffett that table service guests did not receive.

Not for single people.

Two things were very prominent on this excursion. 1) It seemed very focussed on couples. Lots of references for people celebrating engagements, weddings & anniversaries. There was also a special song played so couples could dance together. 2) There were too many add-ons where it seemed really obvious they were trying to get more money out of you ($15 to have your picture taken with some tropical birds for example and also the bar staff trying to talk you into getting the drinks that your free coupon doesn't quite cover). Some of the extra activites were pretty lame and the staff didn't really seemed interested in even pretending to be enthused about being there. The actual show was pretty good, although it didn't really go on that long. I was at a VIP table and the waiter hovered around and couldn't take your plate so as to start the next course quick enough. No offer of if you would like some more or not despite the fact it was "all you can eat". I really felt like a bit of a goosberry for being single right from the get go and the overall night on the whole was a bit of a disappointment. For couples and families with small kids it would be fine, definately not an activity for singles though in my opinion.

This was the second luau that I've attended...it was very good and comparable to the first...the events going on in addition to the luau were an added bonus. Highly recommend upgrading it as we did, we were served our food instead of standing in line, we received a photo that they took at the beginning and the drinks were top of the line. We had front row seating! Made it SO much better for taking photos and viewing the performers! SO glad we upgraded it...worth the extra money :)

Several years ago, I went to a Hawaiian Luau...we ate dinner and watched a show...it was alright. PARADISE COVE LUAU was so much more! I loved it! Before dinner, there were several activities we could enjoy, as we drank our "welcome drink" or used our coupons to have some additional pre-dinner drinks. Activities included: canoe rides, spear-throwing, tatooing, flowered headband/ bracelet making, poi practice, and dance lessons. The beach and sunset was beautiful. Negatives: Dinner was okay...my boyfriend liked it, but I'm a little more picky... Some (most) of the drinks required more than just a drink coupon (ie. "one coupon plus $3)...kind of misleading. Overall, I totally recommend this Luau experience!
